January was a good reading month for me. I read 20 books and a mix of genre. I read romance, 3 thrillers and a few young adult novels.
Each month, I am going to share a wrap up of the books that I read. Since there are 20 books, I am going to split it into two posts.
This is a young adult sci-fi novel set in game called Warcross. I particular enjoy reading about the game. I found the romance was forced and unnecessary. It was a fun read.
I picked this book up because it was Reese Witherspoon’s pick of the month. This is an adult thriller about a con artist, a sociopath and a survivor. The story was slow at the beginning but it picked up in the middle. It’s best to go blind for this book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. So I recommend picking it up.
This is an adult chick-lit book about the main character who moves to Vermont after fleeing her job in Boston. She picks up work as the pastry chef for the town’s inn. The story was slow. I wished there were recipes at the end of the each chapter.
This is Jessica Knoll’s follow up to the Luckiest Girl Alive which I read a few years ago and loved it. This is the story of a group of women who are featured in a reality show similar to the NYC housewives. There was a bit of mystery as to how one of the main characters dies. I found the social commentary to be too much at times. I wish it was more plot driven. Overall, if you are a fan of the housewives you would enjoy this book.
*I received an ARC of this book through Netgalley. My opinions are my own.
This is a young adult contemporary novel of a couple of teenagers who are stuck in the Denver Airport during a snow storm. One of the main character is struggling with grief over the passing of her best friend. This was an adorable read. I strongly recommend it reading in the winter
I love me some Kendall Ryan. She is one of my auto-buy romance authors. This is a fluffy contemporary romance. There is a forbidden romance between a student and her advisor. If you are looking for a fast contemporary read then this book is for you
*I received a free ARC from the author in exchange for my review. The opinions are my own.
This is an adult thriller that is best to go blind. The only thing is this book is not about your first assumptions. This book was amazing. The final chapter came out of nowhere and if I am completely honest it wasn’t necessary.
This is another thriller again it’s best to go blind. This is the story of three final girls (survivors of massacre). One of them gets killed and this is the story of what happens next. I didn’t expect the killer to be the person it is which was thrilling. It was a good thriller.
I am reading and reviewing this book in the next What to Read Next Podcast. This book dives into social, racial topics. I strongly recommend picking it up.
This is not your typical Christina Lauren romance. This story dives into being bisexual/gay in the Mormon church. It’s a young adult contemporary novel. I absolutely loved it. This story kept with me after reading it.
So there you have my first ten reads of the year. On Monday I will post the next ten reads for the month.
In the comments below, please share what did you read in the month of January? Did you read any of these books? If so, do you agree with the comments.
